ABOUT the Creator
Hello. I’m the founder and creator of the PARENT Notebook™ Company. After 20 years, I’m writing an “About” that’s about me. I’ve been hesitant to write the about me because I‘ve always found it uncomfortable to talk about myself, but I know it helps for you to know me better and the “why” I do, what I do. So, here it goes.
Starting a teaching career As a new UCLA graduate, with a teaching credential in hand, I was ready to leave the “ivory tower” and make a difference in the world. It was all about making the world a better place. Sound familiar? Later, I transitioned, as they say, into the “real” world of corporate training, tech start-ups, and sales. I later formed a training and consultant company in California.
Fast forward to the PARENT Notebook Company Making the world a better place was my early goal and still is. So the educator-turned-entrepreneur has come full-circle, inspired to work with families to open up endless opportunities for students. The commitment is still very much alive.
Core belief
“Every parent has the capacity to support their son or daughter, it just happens in different ways.”
This “Knitting Story” tells a story of how one mother found “her” way to support her daughter’s education.
During an awards ceremony, a young lady, who was accepted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), spoke with gratitude about her mother who always supported her education.
The Creator and her daughter 20 years ago when the PARENT Notebook Company was launched.
“MY MOTHER . . .
does not understand calculus. My mother does not understand English. But when I studied late into the night, she was always on the sofa, knitting, so I wouldn’t be staying up by myself. When I saw my mother knitting, I worked harder to finish my assignments, so we could both go to bed.”
